Because English has become such a global tool, this project aims to help those wishing to have access to that tool. English lesson provide by native speakers (or individuals with a high level of English fluency) are needed for this project to help those who don't have easy access to this type of education. For many in Argentina, they cannot afford to attend other English classes, and that is why you as a volunteer can positively affect their lives. Volunteers will be reaching out to schools in rural settings and helping children lead better lives through accessible education.
No formal teaching experience or qualifications is required to volunteer for the Teaching English project. Volunteers with basic or intermediate knowledge of Spanish will be able to volunteer effectively. If you do not have any knowledge of Spanish, please consider joining our Spanish program while volunteering in Cordoba. Volunteers are also required to have patience, flexibility and an enthusiasm for teaching English as the mentality of the people will be very different from what you're used to back home.
Volunteers will be either teaching or assisting students with pre-established English curriculums. If you are interested, you can teach: art, physical education or with other areas also. Classes are held from Monday through Friday. Volunteers are encouraged to use a number of methods to aid in the teaching of English, including: flash cards, singing songs, etc. You are also encouraged to hold debates and discussions as this can increase their ability to comprehend English better. You can also participate or organize extra-curricular activities like games and plays.
The project is located in Cordoba, which has a cultural rich history and colonial charm. Cordoba has been home for a great many writers, artists, and musicians. The streets and character of the city offer much stimulation and are quite exciting to experience. The urban environment offers a plentitude for volunteers to experience, and there are also nearby nature opportunities in the Andes and Pampas.
