Childcare Volunteer

Many children in Morocco are neglected and lack basic care due to unfortunate circumstances and poverty. In the childcare volunteer work in Morocco, you will share your love and compassion with these underprivileged children some of who are orphaned or have special needs. Volunteers will work 4-5 hours a day for 5 days a week assisting the local staffs in their day to day work. Volunteers will help create a safe environment for the children for their overall development. Volunteers will conduct learning sessions as well as fun activities for the children. Volunteers are welcome to share their skills and teach games, sports, art, music, and dance to the children.

Program requirement: Volunteers do not need previous experience or qualification for this program.  However, volunteers must be passionate about working with children.

Teaching English or French Volunteer

Students coming from low income areas of Morocco are deprived of quality education due to the lack of schools and teachers. During your volunteer work in Morocco as a teacher, you will help provide a valuable language skills to the disadvantaged children with which they can come out of their bleak situation. Your efforts will help the children towards a brighter and prosperous future. Volunteers will teach English or French to the children by running workshops and conducting learning programs. Volunteers will also assist the local teachers in the classrooms and support the local schools with administrative and day to day tasks.  

Program requirement: Volunteers do not need prior experience or qualification for this program. However, you need to be fluent in the language you are teaching. Volunteers can choose to teach English or French.

Program Duration: The Teaching volunteer program in Morocco is available from 1 week up to 3 months

Working with Women Volunteer

Volunteers in this program will be working with the underprivileged women of Morocco, who come from poor backgrounds and face numerous difficulties. During your volunteer work in Morocco with the women, you will help them get back on their feet by providing them with education, moral support and income generation skills. You will support the women in a variety of areas and encourage the women to be self-reliant, confident and productive members of the society. Volunteers can come prepared to share their skills and teach the women English, computer skills, sewing, and making handicrafts etc. 

Program requirement: Volunteers do not need prior experience or qualification for this program. However, you should have at least a basic or intermediate level of French as many of the local women do not speak English.

Midwifery and Nursing Internship

Interns in this program will shadow and assist the local doctors, nurses and medical staffs. You will be assigned tasks depending on your skills and level of experience. In this Morocco Internship Program, you will work under the guidance of your superior and help with labor and other medical procedures. This Internship program will provide a wonderful opportunity for students to explore medical career, learn new medical skills and explore the healthcare system of Morocco, thus enhancing your global medical perspective.

Program requirement: For this program, students are required to have a background in medicine, midwifery, healthcare or nursing. Interns should have at least a basic level of French. Interns are required to submit their CV in French and write a formal letter stating why you want to join this program.

Program Duration: The Midwifery and Nursing Internship in Morocco is available for 1 month up to 3 months.


Journalism Internship

Our Journalism Program interns will be working in Rabat or Fez for well-known news agencies in the country. Interns will be assigned a mentor and will work under the close supervision of a seasoned professional. In this Morocco Internship program, we provide interns with a wonderful opportunity to explore the field of journalism and their future career path. Interns will assist with writing and editing news articles and other media activities.

Program requirement: For this program, students are required to have a background in journalism, media or other related field. Interns should be able to speak French and English.

Program Duration: The Journalism Internship in Morocco is available for 2 month up to 6 months.

NGO Support and Human Rights Internship

Interns joining this program must be passionate about human rights, community development and social work. Interns will utilize their skills and talents to assist the local NGO’s and staffs with their workings. The interns will think of new ideas and solutions that will help in sound and sustainable development of the local communities, raise social awareness and overcome challenges. The intern’s duties many vary according to the needs of the community or their area of interest. With this Morocco Internship program, you will also get an opportunity to make a positive impact in the community.

Program requirement: For this program, students can be from various backgrounds such as psychology, education, law, conflict resolution and others. Interns should have at least a basic level of French. Interns are required to submit their CV in French and write a formal letter stating why you want to join this program.

Program Duration: The NGO Support and Human Rights Internship in Morocco is available from 5 weeks up to 3 months.

Volunteer in Morocco: Skills & Qualifications

Volunteers/Interns in our programs do not need any specific experience or qualification. However, you must be passionate about helping others and must be kind, caring, patient and flexible. Volunteers/Interns must also fulfill the requirements of the specific program they wish to join in Morocco.

Volunteers must be 18 years or older and at least have a high school education. Volunteers are required to provide a criminal background check.

Volunteer in Morocco: Fees & Program Dates

Program Dates Morocco Volunteer Programs begin on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month all year round, except during the month of Ramadan festival. You can join our volunteer programs anywhere from one week to three months. Our internship programs have a minimum duration requirement.

Our Fees As an organization, RCDP is a firm believer of 100% transparency and never uses middlemen. Our goal is to provide a rewarding, culturally immersive and a safe program for all our volunteers in Morocco at the most affordable rates. The program fee is divided into 2 parts- Registration Fee and Weekly Program Fee. Your one-time registration fee of $299 covers our administrative costs. The weekly Program Fee depends on the duration of volunteering and the program. This weekly Program Fee is paid by volunteers directly to the local country coordinator.

Volunteer in Morocco: Accommodations and Meals

During your volunteer work in Morocco with RCDP, you can choose to stay with our host families or in a volunteer residence (single or double occupancy). Volunteer accommodation will be in a safe and secure location and the rooms are comfortable, neat and clean. Volunteers may have to share a room with other volunteers of the same gender. Our host families and our volunteer residence are located in Rabat, the capital city. Volunteers staying with the host family with get a glimpse of the local Moroccan life and are expected to respect the family’s cultural beliefs. Volunteers need to bring their own towels. Volunteers will have access to the Wi-Fi and showers.

Volunteers staying with the host family will be provided with 2 meals a day (breakfast and dinner) that may comprise local cuisines. Volunteers staying in our volunteer residence will have access to kitchen with a refrigerator and a stove.

Volunteers in Morocco will have free time during evenings and weekends. Morocco offers volunteers fantastic opportunities for sightseeing and cultural exploration. We have listed out some activities that volunteers can indulge in during their free time in Morocco.

Arrival and departure

The closest International airport to our program site is the Rabat-Salé Airport in Rabat. This airport is located only 20 minutes taxi ride away from the program site. Our local staffs will be there to receive our Morocco volunteers at the airport and will take you to our program site. We do not offer airport drop-off service but volunteers are welcome to take the help of our local staffs to book a taxi to the airport.

Visa

Citizens from the following nations do not need a visa for entry into Morocco - America, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia & New Zeeland, Japan and European Union countries Citizens of all other countries require a valid visa for entry into Morocco.

Vaccinations

Recommended vaccines for travelers to Morocco include: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid and Rabies in addition to routine vaccines - MMR, DPT, Chicken pox, Polio and yearly Flu shots. Please take the advice of your doctor for the vaccinations before your volunteer work in Morocco. Also, take proper precautions during your stay in Morocco.
