Project Summary

Are you looking for an affordable volunteer abroad opportunity to explore a new country while also giving back to the children who reside there? RCDP International's Teaching English volunteer program in Antigua, Guatemala is an excellent way to do both!

Guatemala is a very poor country and many children are not able to access good education. Due to the rapidly growing tourism industry, it will be helpful for children to have English skills. Learning English also opens up a host of other career opportunities for the children that will enable them to come out of their poor situation. RCDP International is partnered up with local NGO’s and schools that promote English teaching and education, in hopes to encourage a bright and successful future for these young Guatemalans.

Volunteering overseas with the Teaching English program in Antigua, Guatemala, is an excellent way to give back to a community and share your language skills with the children while having the unique opportunity to become fully immersed in the culture and gain a meaningful teaching experience. You will teach English in local schools, and child care centers, and develop meaningful relationships with the students and people you work with. This will be an enriching, educational, and eye opening experience in a colorful and vibrant city in Guatemala.

Contact RCDP today to learn more about our Teaching English Volunteer Program in Antigua, Guatemala.

There are no specific skills or qualifications required in order to volunteer abroad with the Teaching English Teaching program in Antigua, Guatemala. You only need to have a solid grasp of the English language and the ability to teach. You should also have love for children, an open heart, be patient and flexible, as well as demonstrate independence and creativity.

A background check is required for volunteers working with children. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to volunteer with children in Guatemala. You can participate in fun and engaging lessons with the children, help them grasp the important concepts of the English language such as grammar and vocabulary, act as an assistant to the teachers, help create lesson plans, and organize extracurricular activities at the school.

However you decide to donate your time to this volunteering opportunity with the Teaching English project in Guatemala will benefit the children and the community. Specific details of your assignment will be given to you prior to your arrival.

The Fee and Dates

RCDP’s Antigua, Guatemala Volunteer Programs start every Monday throughout the year.

Every year hundreds of volunteers sign up for UK and UK based organizations and pay up to $2500 to volunteer for two weeks in Guatemala. Unfortunately, only a small portion of that money actually goes to the local projects and host families. The local projects (childcare centers, school, and local NGOs) in Guatemala are poor and need external support to run their programs. In our program, you will pay your fee directly to host families and projects upon your arrival in Guatemala. When you join our program, we make sure that all of your money goes to the projects and host families. Part of your fees also helps us cover our expenses. The program fee is divided into a registration fee $279 and weekly fee for room, food, coordination, and project donation.

Click to find the allocation of $279
