Project Summary

Do you want to visit Guatemala and explore its many delights while giving back to the local communities? RCDP International's Construction Volunteer Opportunity in Antigua, Guatemala is an excellent way to do both!

Guatemala is rapidly developing but, unfortunately, the growth is uneven. While touristic areas are modern and built up, many regions in Guatemala lack basic infrastructures like schools, clinics and other important public facilities. The people residing in these regions are poor and struggle with basic needs.

RCDP International has partnered up with local NGO’s to help develop the disadvantaged regions through various construction and renovation projects, to improve the lives of disadvantaged Guatemalans. You will help make improvements, build, renovate and repair essential buildings. Your work will provide a better quality of life for many citizens and provide hope to the communities.

As part of the Construction Volunteer project in Antigua, Guatemala, you will develop meaningful relationships with the local people whom you work with and help improve the communities. This will be an enriching, educational, and eye opening volunteer abroad experience in a colorful and vibrant city in Guatemala.

Contact RCDP today to learn more about our Construction Volunteer Program in Antigua, Guatemala.

We welcome anyone who is physically fit to join this program. Though a construction background will come in handy, it is not a necessity. You also need to bring gloves, work boots, and safety glasses.

Speaking Spanish will make your volunteer experience highly rewarding, though it is not a mandatory requirement. If you cannot speak Spanish, we recommend enrolling in our Spanish Language Studies program, which can run simultaneous to your volunteer project.

In most cases, there are restaurants and markets near the homes in which our volunteers stay.

The Fee and Dates

RCDP’s Antigua, Guatemala Volunteer Programs start every Monday throughout the year.

Every year hundreds of volunteers sign up for UK and UK based organizations and pay up to $2500 to volunteer for two weeks in Guatemala. Unfortunately, only a small portion of that money actually goes to the local projects and host families. The local projects (childcare centers, school, and local NGOs) in Guatemala are poor and need external support to run their programs. In our program, you will pay your fee directly to host families and projects upon your arrival in Guatemala. When you join our program, we make sure that all of your money goes to the projects and host families. Part of your fees also helps us cover our expenses. The program fee is divided into a registration fee $279 and weekly fee for room, food, coordination, and project donation.

Click to find the allocation of $279

Weekly fees are divided between accommodation, 2 local meals (breakfast & dinner) a day (50%), and project donation/support of local project staffers (50%).
