Beach And River Cleaning Volunteer Program in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is a wonderful place to visit and volunteer! You can enjoy beautiful beaches, tall mountains with tea fields, and old temples with interesting stories. The people are friendly, the food is delicious, and you might even see some cool animals. Whether you like exploring old places, taking a train through misty mountains, or just chilling on the beach, Sri Lanka has lots of fun things to do!

But, there's a problem. Sri Lanka is dealing with serious pollution in its rivers and beaches, even though they're trying to stop it. People are using too many harmful things, and even though they banned certain plastic bags, pollution is still happening a lot. RCDP Volunteers wants to help, and you can too! Join our Beach & River Cleaning project, where the community is working together to keep the beaches and rivers clean and beautiful. This project is all about fighting pollution and making sure both the people who live there and visitors can enjoy a clean and healthy environment. As a volunteer, you can help clean up the coast, raise awareness, and get the community involved in keeping the beaches tidy. Your work is super important for protecting these lovely natural spots and encouraging everyone to care about the environment.

Project Location

Our volunteer projects are situated in the charming town of Galle, approximately a 5-hour drive south of Colombo, Sri Lanka's capital city. Galle offers a glimpse into Sri Lankan culture and daily life, with beautiful villages to explore nearby. Key attractions in Galle include the Kalutara Temple, Peace Pagoda, Galle Fort, and coastal turtle hatcheries. The town also boasts numerous excellent dining and drinking establishments for volunteers to enjoy.

For those with an interest in history, nearby ancient capital cities like Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa feature impressive ruins built by ancient Kings. Adventurous volunteers can embark on a hike to the renowned "SIGIRIYA ROCK," offering spectacular views from its summit. The North East of Sri Lanka is renowned for its famous beaches like Arugam Bay, as well as monasteries, temples, parks, churches, museums, and art galleries, providing diverse experiences for exploration.
