Climb Mount Kilimanjaro - Machame Route - 7 days for $1,859

The most popular way to go up Mount Kilimanjaro, the Machame Route delights on all of its tens of twists and turns through grand rainforests, providing astonishing views. Among the treats along this trail to be seen are the Shira Plateau, Kibo volcano, Western Breach and a few glaciers. The destination and turnaround point is Uhuru Peak.

Schedule

Day 0: Arrival and orientation.

Day 1: Travel to Arusha—Tanzania’s safari capital—for debriefing.

Day 2: Kilimanjaro National Park. Travel through rainforests and arrive at Mandara Hut (2,750m).

Day 3: Gently ascend Mount Kilimanjaro, with time for acclimatization.

Day 4: Cross “the saddle” – a valley between Mawenzi and Kibo mountains. Take rest so as to be set to climb in the morning.

Day 5: Shoot up towards Gilman’s Point to Uhuru Peak – located on the rim of a crater. A stunning vista awaits adventurers at the top. Then it’s on to Horombo Hut for an evening of revelry for making it this far, and relaxation.

Day 6: Enjoy being this close to Kilimanjaro before going downhill through Marangu Gate.

Day 7: In the morning, it’s off to respective host families/hostels.

The program fee includes:

  • pickup/drop-off from project site,
  • park entry fees
  • camping fees
  • English-speaking guide(s)
  • cooks/porters
  • full board/camping accommodations for duration of the climb
  • camping equipment, mineral water for the first day
  • boiled and filtered water on the other days
  • transfer to the gate and return to Arusha.

The program fee does not include:

  • meals and accommodations in Arusha
  • tips for group leader(s): tour leader and driver, and items for personal consumption such as drinks and snacks.
