In addition to the grand Incan phenomenon that is Machu Picchu, tour colonial Spanish greatness, dramatic jungles and agricultural wonders in the Sacred Valley.

Schedule

Day 00:

Arrival and orientation.

Day 01:

Take a nine-hour bus ride from Cusco to Puno, with stops at scenic Andahuaylillas, Raqchi, La Raya, and Pukara. Arrival in and exploration of Puno.

Day 02:

Cruise on Lake Titicaca, headed for Uros Island and the unique reeds that grow along its edges. Incas have been living here and staying true to their traditions since time immemorial. Next comes a trip to Amantani Island and lunch with a traditional family. Then you trek around Amantani. Sleep for the night in a traditional home-stay.

Day 03:

Enjoy Taquile Island and its pre-Incan archeological sites. Boat back to Puno. Return bus ride to Cusco. Optionally, you can take a bus or airplane to Lima and Arequipa.

Day 04:

Take it easy! Make the most out of Cusco's shopping, restaurants and nightlife.

Day 05:

Tour Cusco’s Incan and Spanish structures and sites. Don’t miss Q’oricancha or the cathedral.

Day 06:

Tour the lush Sacred Valley, the agricultural center that sustained the society of the ancient Incas. Stop along the way to appreciate the area’s old weaving traditions. Meet up with adorable alpaca and vicuna to feed and pet them. Then comes the village of Pisac and its ancient archeological complex, plus Pisac market. Continue the journey through to Ollantaytambo train station and a scenic train ride to Aguas Calientes, which rests at the foot of the mystical Machu Picchu Mountain.

Day 07:

The eagerly awaited climax to your trip is a 20-minute bus ride up to splendid Machu Picchu. Head for the Inca Guard House to watch the sunrise over Machu Picchu. Then comes a two-hour guided tour of the complex. Adrenaline-fueled travelers can hike up to Huayna for superb views of Machu Picchu. The train back to Cusco leaves around 3:30pm and arrives at 7:30pm.
