Panama is just 78 square kilometers but what it lacks in size, it makes up with attractions it has to offer. The country is famous for the Canal and being at the crossroads of North and South America. But it also is one of the most bio-diverse regions after Amazon basic and abundant of wildlife and flora and fauna thrive in the rainforests of Panama. The country also has wonderful beaches and archipelagos. The economy of Panama is one of the most vibrant in Latin America with the economy growing faster than even Brazil’s. The crime in Panama is also comparatively lower compared to its neighboring country and there is a large expat community that has settled in Panama to enjoy what the country has to offer. But poverty still lingers very strongly in Panama. Underprivileged families find it very hard to climb the economic ladder and RCDP International’s programs are working to get volunteers to get this section of the society to progress. Our programs also tackle the environmental damage and harm caused to the wildlife.
RCDP Panama volunteer Program starts every 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month.
Every year, hundreds of volunteers arrive in Panama to volunteer from UK and USA based organizations and end up paying up to $2500 to volunteer for 2 weeks. Unfortunately, only a small portion of that money actually goes to host projects and host families. The local host projects (orphanages, school, and local NGOs) in India are resource poor and need external support to run their programs. In our model, you will pay your fee directly to the host families and projects upon arrival in India.
When you join our program, we will make sure that all of your money goes to the projects and host families. Part of your fees also helps us to cover our expenses. The program fee is divided in as registration fee ($259) and weekly fee ($80 per week for room, food, coordination, and project donation). Click to find the allocation of $259
Weekly fee is divided between room/3 local foods a day (50%) and project donation/support of local project staffs (50%). This allocation may be different depending up on location, project type etc. However, our coordinator will explain these issues before you pay the fee. Volunteers joining orphanage and teaching projects will stay at a hostel. You will share your room with other volunteers (depending on the number of volunteers in the project). Volunteers at other there projects will stay at a host family. Our host families have been carefully screened and chosen and they will provide with a warm, secure and friendly place to stay. Staying with a host family will also give you opportunity to learn local culture and make local friends. You will enjoy 3 local meals in both the hostel and host family. RCDP's staffs will visit or call volunteers while volunteering in every two-four week to check your progress and inquire if you’re satisfied and happy.
