Help the orphanage of Costa Rica by volunteering in a construction project to build homes. Through your effort and hard work, the orphanage will be able to have more space to take in more orphans. In Costa Rica, the orphanages are always short of funds and they find it very difficult to improve on the current facilities. Through your construction work, the children can sleep in less crowded room, do their homework and study in a better room, and have place for them to play and do other recreation activities.

Some of our construction work takes you to a rural village where you’ll build homes for the poor family. The work is often physically demanding, but you’ll have plenty of time to rest and you’ll be guided all along by locals, who will also be contributing their labor alongside you.

Skill/Qualification

There are no skills required to volunteer in the project. You should however be physically fit as the work can get physically demanding. If you understand Spanish, you’ll be able to communicate with the locals and work more effectively, however, knowledge of Spanish isn’t a must.

Volunteer's Responsibilities

You’ll work from Monday to Friday from 8 am until noon. You’ll break for lunch and start from 2 pm and work until 4 pm. If you feel tired, you can rest more and gradually build up your stamina, or if you want to work more, you’re more than welcome to continue after 4 pm. You’ll be helped by local foreman and builders and your country coordinator will assist you in any other matters.

Accommondation/Meal and Supervision

RCDP will provide from your every need during the project. During the project, you will stay with a host family. You will be provided with a separate room but you will have to share bathroom facilities. We have chosen our host family carefully and they will provide with a safe and secure location for you to stay. They will have experience of hosting foreign volunteers before and at least one member of the host family will be able to communicate with you in English. Staying with a host family is a wonderful way to learn about the lifestyle and culture of Costa Rica. You will be served 3 locals meals by the host family. The meals will be prepared hygienically. Our staff will also visit you regularly to check your progress and see if you’re satisfied with the project or not. So you can rest assure that you will be completed looked after while you volunteer in orphanage work project in Costa Rica.
